    How to use a Snuff Bullet?

    A Step by Step Guide on How to use a Snuff Bullet

    1. Turn the dial facing down (pointing towards the bottom of the bullet)
    2. Face the Bullet down towards the floor (so gravity makes your snuff enter the chamber of the dial)
    3. Turn the dial 90 degrees so it points to the side (this captures the snuff within the rotating chamber so it cannot escape)
    4. Point the Bullet up towards you ready to take your first sniff
    5. Finally turn the dial another 90 degrees so it now points upwards (the snuff should now in the rotating chamber facing upwards towards you)
    6. You can now safely sniff your snuff!

    What are Snuff Bullets?

    Snuff Bullets are sometimes called Sniffing Rockets and come in different shapes and sizes. Most are metal but can also be made from plastic, however new designs are starting to appear in glass and carbon fibre. However all are basically used in the same way, but this can take some getting used too as first.

    Snuff Bullets rarely come with detailed instructions on how to use them. However it usually doesn’t take too long for the user to figure it out. But early mistakes can be avoided with some simple tips. I have written a guide below on how I use mine.

    How to Use a Snuff Bullet?

    First your going to need to fill your Bullet or Sniffing Rocket. How you fill your Bullet depends on the Bullet type. Most of the metal Bullets have a part that unscrews from the bottom and you fill the empty chamber inside. Other Glass or Plastic ones have a screw on head. Having a filling funnel (sometimes included with the Bullet makes this easier).

    When your Snuff Bullet is full your ready to try it. Almost all Snuff Bullets use a rotating dial (usually 3/4 way up the bullet) to capture the snuff and deliver it into the nose cone. The dial is the most important part of the Snuff Bullet this is because it’s what captures your snuff. The dial is a rotating chamber you can turn to move the snuff from the inside and into the nose cone. It is then ready to be sniffed. You can tell which way the rotating chamber usually because it has a pointed dial.

    The biggest mistakes you can make with the Snuff Bullet usually occur when the dial is facing the wrong way. For example having the dial facing up and the bullet pointed downwards could mean your sniff falling onto the floor below you (has been known the happen to me a few times when i’ve been drinking!). 

    When not using the Bullet the dial should be pointing sideways or upwards (sideways best). This is because it’s possible for your sniff to escape through the air hole on the side of the Bullet if the dial is pointing downwards. This is the part of the design that confuses most people when they first start using it – not having the dial pointing sideways when it’s in your pocket and your snuff leaking out. I have had many a long email exchange with customers who think their Snuff Bullet is broken or missing a screw (they think the air hole is a screw hole).

    The Carbon Fibre Cutting plate is an innovation on the type of material used for Snuff Snorting Plates. Carbon Fibre is a super strong material that leaves no residue. This makes it ideal for cutting and snorting snuff and other powders. It also cleans easily. This type of plate also has the benefits of grooves and holes to store your snorting tools. Usually a hole to stand up your sniffing tube and a cut for the chopping card. Some have more than one hole for multiple snorting tubes. The additional tubes so others can share the plate hygienically without sharing the same tube. Unlike glass cutting plates this material will not damage easily.     Glass Coke Plates

    A Snuff Snorting Plate made of glass was popular in the 1970’s and 80’s. This kind of surface is great for cutting and snorting. The glass is usually clear glass or black. Black glass Snuff Plates do look cool and make it very easy to see your sniff. The glass coke plates are usually heavy which does add to the feel of the plate. You could argue a heavy plate will be less likely to be knocked or lifted accidentally and reduce the risk of accidental spillage. But the material glass can also break much more easily that metal or carbon fibre. One drop and your plate could be ruined as well as your coke! Some Glass Coke Plates have a felt back to reduce the possibility of damage to the plate and whatever the surface it’s resting on.

    Mirror Snorting Plates

    Mirror plates for cutting and sniffing are similar to glass plates but have a mirror effect (usually the mirror is a reflective sheet on the back of the glass plate). There is little difference to a glass plate except the that you can see your face in it. It’s largely a matter of preference but mirror snuff plates do tend to come in a variety of shapes. There is no special reason for this other than a round mirror for example is more pleasing to the eye than round glass.

    You can buy a snuff snorting plate as part of a kit set. This is usually a smaller mirror which fits inside or comes out of a snuff set. Metal Snorting kits usually have the mirror stuck to the inside of the metal box. This can be better than having a separate mirror as part of the set but it depends largely on preference. The leather or suede wallet style snuff sets do usually have a small mirror which is used as a plate for snorting. The rest of the set tends to be a spoon, snorting tube, razor or chopper, and the wallet itself.

    Snuff Bottles with Spoon are great additions to your snuff accessory collection and are very useful. These types of bottles are popular with those people who want to use their snuff when out and about. Using a bottle to carry your ‘sniff’ is nothing new but the spoon attachment is a innovation that makes getting your stuff out of the bottle easily. These special snuff bottles come in many different types and sizes.

    In the beginning of the movie The Wolf of Wall Street the character played by Matthew McConaughey uses a small bottle with the spoon inside the bottle. This means the spoon is safely inside in the bottle when not in use. The Second great feature is the spoon is telescopic. You can extend the spoon slightly by pulling. The spoon is usually long enough to reach right to the bottom of the bottle and is used after unscrewing the lid leaving the chain and lid dangling off the spoon.     Folding Spoon Snuff Bottle

    The most popular type of snuff bottle with spoon is the Snuff Bottle with Folding spoon. These are usually much smaller glass bottles that hold only 1-2 grams of snuff. The small bottle is popular as its easier to carry and conceal. The bottle is glass with a plastic lid. The spoon is part of the lid and folds down tightly next to the bottle on a hinge so it’s almost a part of the bottle.     Snuff Straws for Snorting

    Snuff Straws are tubes used for snorting snuff or other powders. They can come in different shapes and sizes but are used in generally the same way. Snuff straws are a tool for delivering snuff up the nasal passage as efficiently and easily as possible. A good snuff straw will aid the user in delivering the right amount of snuff into the nose!

    The Snuff Straw can be of a variety of different lengths and with a different heads and tails. Although any length is possible usually Snuff Straws are around 6-8cm long. The different features of straws tend to be the shapes of the head and the tail ends. The heads can be shaped in various ways to try and aid suction at the nasal entrance. For example the famous ‘mushroom head’ snorter has a very large mushroom shaped head to ensure that the nose entrance is completely airtight for the user.

    The other end of the Snuff Straw is the tail end. The head of the straw is for the nasal entrance, so the tail is for picking up your snuff effectively. The two major tail types are the Butted End and the Slim End. The Butted End had an open boss end to suck up larger amounts of snuff. The Slim End (or thin end) tube is more targeted and sucks in a smaller area, but more efficiently, due to the concentration of the airflow. The choice of which to use really depends on the user. But some snuff or powder types might suit certain Snuff Straw tail ends better.

    Snuff straws are usually made of a chrome metal but can be made of many other materials. The most famous material for a Snuff Straw is of course the famous rolled up bank note. I have seen snorting Straws made from glass, metal, wood, and more recently carbon fibre. Carbon fibre is a new composite to use as a Snuff Straw and is very popular. The Carbon Fibre Snuff Straw is strong and durable but also have a great feel to it. The material is non-sticky, smooth, and somewhat aerodynamic.

    Snuff Necklace with Spoon

    Snuff Necklace with Spoon is usually a small spoon on a necklace. The spoon is usually dangling freely from the necklace so it can be used while around the neck. The necklace chains are usually much longer than a usual necklace (sometimes as long a 1 meter in length) so the user can freely use the spoon in any manner without difficulty. The benefits of spoons on a necklace are that the spoon is carried without having to use a pocket (and so it can’t fall out of the pocket and get lost) even while dancing in any manner.

A skilled user can do this quickly and discreetly. However it is possible to get confused, especially when drinking alcohol, and accidentally spill stuff out of the bullet by accident. Other types of Bullet have no rotating cylinder but do have a mechanical opening nozzle. The nose chamber is opened by screwing the base left and right. This has it’s own problems as it’s impossible to measure a certain dose and you can end up sniffing way too much too quickly.

    The most common metal type Snuff Bullet is also referred to as the Sniffing Rocket. It looks like a small rocket, tall and slim with a cone shaped head. There can be subtle differences in the shape of the tip of the nose cone. Some are pointy, some slightly rounded, and some with a cut-off flat nose. Snorting Rockets are possibly the most popular type of Snuff Bullet because they are strong and look very cool.
